Peppermint Oil for Mice

Rated 4.8 out of 5
Based on 9 reviews

Known for its crisp and cooling scent, peppermint oil is a go-to choice for creating a home environment that's less inviting to mice. Its strong natural aroma makes it a popular option for formulating surface sprays, sachets, and cotton ball applications in pantries, basements, garages, and other spaces.

While not a pesticide, peppermint oil is widely used in DIY and commercial products aimed at discouraging rodents from nesting indoors.

Undiluted

To use undiluted peppermint oil directly on your skin, you’ll have to first mix the peppermint oil for mice with a carrier oil; aim to mix 3 parts carrier oil with one part peppermint oil for mice. Then, the mixture can be applied to your skin. For people with sensitive skin, you'll want to add more parts carrier oil to the mixture.

When using peppermint oil for mice on surfaces in your home, add the oil to a spray bottle with water. Then, spray surfaces in your home to discourage unwanted pests. You can also apply the oil to cotton balls and leave them around the house to make those areas less inviting.

How to Mix Peppermint Oil for Mice

To safely use peppermint oil for mice anywhere where it may come in contact with your skin, always dilute it first. Mix a few drops of peppermint oil for mice with a carrier oil like jojoba, coconut, or sweet almond oil. For a water-based spray, combine it with distilled water and a splash of witch hazel or vodka in a spray bottle, shaking before each use. Always patch test before application, and avoid contact with eyes or sensitive areas.

How to Use Peppermint Oil for Mice?

Peppermint oil is commonly used to deter mice thanks to its intense menthol scent, which disrupts their sensitive sense of smell. It’s often used in homes, garages, and storage areas.

How to Make a Peppermint Oil Mouse Deterrent Spray

Add 10–15 drops of peppermint essential oil to a spray bottle filled with water and a splash of white vinegar or witch hazel. Shake well and spray along baseboards, entry points, and known problem areas.

How to Use Cotton Balls with Peppermint Oil

Saturate cotton balls with several drops of peppermint oil and place them in cupboards, under sinks, or near cracks and holes. Refresh every few days to maintain effectiveness.

Great!

Would love to leave a rating, if I had the product. Took 2 weeks for them to send the wrong product, another 2 to create a shipping label for the right one, that still hasnt left their facility. Also had upgraded shipping, replacement being sent by snail mail. Hoping to recieve it by 2025, was ordered mid June 2024.
