Mongongo oil goes by different names across its habitat. While known as "mungongo" in Southern and Western Zambia, it takes on the moniker "manketi" in Angola, Namibia, Botswana, western Zimbabwe, and northern Mozambique.

Originating from the dry expanse of the South African desert, Mongongo oil is a precious essence obtained from the nuts of the Mongongo tree, scientifically known as Schinziophyton rautanenii. These nuts are meticulously collected and cold-pressed to yield the nourishing oil.
Throughout history, Mongongo Oil has been cherished for its ability to heal and nurture. Traditionally, it was employed as a soothing body rub during dry winter months, alleviating skin discomfort.
