Copaiba balsam essential oil is derived from the trunk of copaifera trees and comes in the form of a sap-like substance. These trees have distinct leathery leaves and white, aromatic flowers. The resin of the tree gathers and accumulates in the trunk, which is why extraction involves punching a hole into the tree, allowing the copaiba balsam sap to ooze out. 

With more than 70 species of copaiba trees around the world, copaiba balsam has a rich, earthy aroma. As an essential oil, copaiba balsam is known for its many wellness effects. The oil can be used with a carrier oil, blended with other beauty products, or diffused in an oil diffuser.
