Lilac Oil Fun Facts

There are approximately 25 different species of lilac plants, each with its own unique characteristics and fragrance profiles.

Renowned for its unique, floral aroma, this essential oil is often used in high-end, luxury perfumes and soaps.

Blooming in the spring, lilacs are often seen as a symbol of growth and renewal.

What is Lilac Oil?

Lilacs, with their stunning and sweet-scented purple blooms, flourish in temperate regions, particularly Eastern Europe, where they are widely cultivated.

These flowers are popular as ornamental plants in North America for their aesthetic and symbolic significance. Their vibrant color and captivating fragrance make them popular for floral arrangements and gardens.

In the past, the leaves of these flowers were commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat fevers and stomach issues.

Lilac Oil is extracted from the flowers using solvent extraction, capturing the fragrant essence of the blooms. This oil has evolved to become a valuable ingredient in cosmetic formulations due to its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

It’s incorporated into skincare products, such as serums and creams, and may promote a youthful complexion and provide soothing benefits for the skin. The delightful, floral aroma of Lilac Oil also adds a natural touch that enhances beauty products, such as lotions, bath oils, and even candles, creating a sensory experience that uplifts and indulges the senses.

Lilac EO

I got this to put in my diffuser to make my house smell like lilacs. I will agree, it does also have a slight soap smell to it, but for what I’m using it for, it’s not an issue. I didn’t tell my husband when I first used it and he came in the house saying how nice it smelled!
