Thanks to lemongrass’s unique grassy and citrus scent, it can be used to both repel insects and attract bees. If you have a bee colony that you need moving, lemongrass oil can be used to encourage this without you having to exterminate the bees.

To use as a bee lure, place a few drops onto a sheet of absorbent paper and place it in the area you would like the bees to move to. The paper will release the scent over time, allowing the lure to work continually. You may need to top up the oil every few days until the bees have successfully migrated.

Additionally, you can use lemongrass oil to feed the bees and successfully rid them of honeybee mites. Simply leave a few drops outside of the hive and allow the bees to feed on the oil.

If you are interested in repelling insects, you can diffuse a few drops of lemongrass oil along with some distilled water. Leave the diffuser around your home or outside to deter mosquitos and other bugs.

Solved my bee problem

This whole hive decided to make my garden their home, I called a local beekeeper and was advised to use lemongrass oil to get them all together and he would come to remove them in about a week as he wasn't available beforehand. First thought, PANIC! Where am I meant to get that so quick? I refuse to fill the pockets of big companies. Luckily a friend had tried this website before and could guarantee that it was quick to deliver, and it was. I did have to wait a couple of days, but that was to be expected. Basically in the end everything went according to plan and the bees are now in their forever home, away from mine.

A beekeeper's best friend

As a beekeeper, lemongrass oil is a big part of my job. It attracts the worker bees and makes my life much easier. This particular brand offers the absolute best prices and sells very big quantities which is a plus.
