Neem Oil for Thrips

A naturally occurring pesticide created from the seeds of the neem tree, neem oil is yellow to brown in color and has a vaguely sulfurous smell. It has been used for centuries to repel pests and fight off certain diseases, and it is still recognized today as one of the most beneficial natural pesticides out there. You can use neem oil for deterring and killing off a number of insects, including thrips. In fact, neem oil is particularly effective against thrips due to their soft bodies.

Neem oil can coat the bodies of insects and may eventually kill them. If you don’t manage to apply it to thrips directly, you can spray it around plants and soil where it is said to interrupt the insects’ feeding and breeding, putting an end to the lifecycle and containing infestations.

To use neem oil for thrips, mix several drops of the oil into a spray bottle filled with water and a few drops of dish soap. Combine thoroughly and spray the mixture onto the plants you want to protect, making sure to coat it. Reapply every day for two weeks to treat an infestation of thrips.
