Citronella Oil for Mosquitos

Rated 4.5 out of 5
Based on 2 reviews

One of the most widely used natural repellents for mosquitos, citronella essential oil can mask both carbon dioxide and lactic acid scents on your skin. This repels mosquitos because they will not be able to locate you to bite you.

To use citronella oil to repel mosquitos, you can make a body spray by combining ten to fifteen drops of essential oil per once ounce of water in a spray bottle. Shake well and apply it to your skin every few hours to keep mosquitos at bay. If you want, you can also add a few drops of citronella to your favorite body lotion to make a more hydrating repellant.

For a more long-term repellent solution, you can make your own candles and add citronella essential oil into them; as the candle burns, it will release the mosquito-repelling scent. You may also opt to diffuse a few drops of citronella oil throughout your home to keep it mosquito-free.

Effective but not long lasting

This oil is arguably the best mosquito repellant on the market, but its effectiveness is a bit short lived in my opinion. After a couple of hours the effect kinda dwindles and the mosquitos come back for vengeance.

Natural repellent

Extremely effective oil against mosquitoes, and without that nasty chemical smell of other repellents.
